Hope you have had a brilliant week… We have spent the week writing and recording songs (which is pretty much my favourite thing in the world to do so a good week in my book! ; )

We have written and recorded 5 bespoke songs this past week so having a total blast with that! Our new album is starting to shape up with some of YOUR songs being in the running for making the final cut ; )

We also did our live “kitchen session” as promised, thanks to everyone for suggesting so many songs… We finally chose not one but TWO of your suggestions to perform so

Know it’s been a while, but we are bringing the kitchen sessions back! For those of you who don’t know what they are it’s where we perform a song live for you direct from our kitchen ; )

To re launch the kitchen sessions we are going to take one of YOUR requests to perform, it can be any cover in the world,  an original Ashton Lane song, one of our bespoke songs… anything at all  ; )

How do you let us know what song you’d like to hear?
We will go through ALL the suggestions  and we will pick one of YOUR suggestions and perform it live for you next week.
After we perform the song we are also going to spend a bit of time doing question and answer too so if you have some questions for us do also leave us a facebook wall commentwith you question and we’ll do our best to answer as many as we can…

Tim and I are decidedly more relaxed as we have just spent 10 days in some of the nicest places in Scotland (Isle of Skye and Isle of Arran). Feeling all the better for it and more creative and focused than ever. This week James, Tim and I are getting together to write 3 bespoke songs. Next week we’ll be in the studio to record them so can’t wait for that. Look out for video updates in next weeks email.

]]> Sometimes we all need a helping hand! It has got to be one of the best feelings in the world to get your original music out there worldwide to folk that enjoy it ; ) We LOVE to get your feedback on the albums and the songs. It means so much after the work that goes into writing and recording that we get amazing words written to us from folks all over the world (pasted at the bottom of this email some examples of the feedback you guys have given us so far below on facebook)…
Even with the internet though and the seemingly limitless possibilities it gives you to get music out there, it can still feel like a total minefield and really frustrating if you don’t have a guiding hand showing you how to negotiate this still very new landscape of the music business in these confusing times!
Tim and I have been on a long journey with “Redhed Records” (our own indie label) and things only REALLY started to come together for us when we finally came across one guy who helped us more than all the other advice we have had over the years put together. This amazing chappy is a London geezer called Chris Rockett and his course is called Music Marketing Classroom…
If you are a musician, label or manager I literally cannot recommend this guy or his course highly enough!!! He is giving away tons of totally free advice right here . All of his information is  filled to the brim with the most amazing music advice in the world!

]]> We had a REALLY fun week last week with a trip to Holland to meet some lovely new music appreciating friends and to perform a gig for them in their living room!

We took bits of video while we were over and a big thanks to Sandra, Ruud, Esther and Wouter for hosting us and Ruud for sending us the footage of the gig they took from their ipad and for their parting gift of bags of salt liquorice (my favourite…so tasty and really hard to get here!) ; ) !

We’ve done a number of these so far in the UK and abroad and they are always a great vibe. If you’ve not come across the concept before, it basically does what it says on the tin. We come and perform an exclusive gig for you and some friends in your living room (if your living room is too small you can hook up with a a friend with a larger living room to co-host or even contact a local pub), no mic’s no PA, no promoter. It is a personal acoustic gig for you and your friends and family in the comfort of your own home!

We are currently taking bookings for UK living room gigs from now up till middle of March this year, then from July onwards. If you are interested in booking one just fire us an email back to this address ( alinnercircle@hotmail.co.uk ) titled “living room gig” to make an enquiry about a date or to get more information.

We are currently taking bookings for international living room gigs from August onwards. We have a 3-4 month break from them as Tim and I also have some exciting news that we have a baby coming in April this year! We posted a wee pic on facebook of Tim, I and the bump, buggy shopping yesterday, you can check that out here ; )

We had another living room gig in Glasgow on Saturday night which was amazing too!

Make sure to drop us a line here if you are in the UK and fancy getting one booked either in the next couple of months or International or UK enquiries for later on in the year Aug onwards…

  • Hope you are doing well and the Christmas and New Year time was good for you. Tim and I had a lovely time at his parents this year! December and January have both been crazily busy too with gigs so planning a holiday in February to read books and chill out!
    Feels like it’s been too long it lol!
    This weekend we are off to Holland for a living room concert that we are REALLY looking forward to, then it’s back to Scotland for more gigging until the end of January!

    Hope all is good with you… Glasgow is really starting to get into the festive season, Tim and I had a day off yesterday, went to our local country park for a walk in the misty, icy weather (tried our best not to fall on our necks!) and then sat for coffee in front of an open fire! I love this time of year and that desire to get cosy and slow down a bit.
    My friend said to me, that you don’t need to feel guilty about taking things a bit slower over winter or giving into the hibernating instinct a bit… The rest of the animal kingdom and natural world do it, so why not us!
    Anyway, also realised at the end of last week that the final day for international posting before Christmas is December 5th (tomorrow… you sent all your cards yet???). Because of this we thought we’d release our CD offer again for 4 personally signed albums for that great price on the run up to Christmas in case that takes your fancy as a pressie for yourself, or your friends and family.     ]]>     Some of you might have noticed I’ve been a bit quiet online over the last couple of weeks when I normally tweet every 5 minutes and write several blogs a day!

    Tim and I feel like we’ve had to take a small step back to re evaluate lots of things. We have times like that now and again where we need to withdraw, look at what we are doing and take stock. If we’ve been a bit cyber quiet over the last few weeks that’s why.

    In times like these we take more walks, take more time to pray and read rather than just do and take more time to talk with close friends who’s council we trust.

    Often during these times new things are birthed and new visions take root, or old visions that were there years ago and have lain dormant start coming to life. Tim and I have been looking and praying for a project to connect our music and our lives to. We recently received an email from friends of ours after a meeting at the offices of World Vision in Milton Keynes suggesting an Ashton Lane/ World Vision tie up. A skype via Denmark and a meeting at Costa Coffee in Glasgow later and we are now officially partnering with World Vision and their sponsor a child program… This partnership is in it’s very early stages and we are taking it a step at a time but we are so excited about this new tie up and wanted to bring everyone in right from the start, so here we are, right at the start!

    Watch this space as they say, feel we could be at the start of a bit of an adventure.
